The world is slowly starting to return to normal after the COVID-19 pandemic. You might notice that the liquor industry doesn’t look the same anymore. The quarantine has changed thousands of liquor store customer’s buying habits in a short period of time. The biggest new habit that is here to stay is buying alcohol online.
Consumers usually flock to the internet to complete any type of purchase they can, that should come as no surprise. However, since the beginning of the outbreak, more and more alcohol consumers are turning to the eCommerce world for their purchases. Consumers are in more need of their favorite beverage to sip on during a virtual happy hour after spending the day inside. Drizly confirmed in April that alcohol sales have increased by 485% since the beginning of the quarantine.
Until now, there hasn’t been much of a need for alcohol delivery since most local liquor stores do plenty of business in-store without offering additional delivery services. However, the virus has forced businesses of all sizes to quickly find new ways of operating and embrace online shopping. While you might be thinking that the end of the quarantine is in sight, the new market shows no signs of changing. Just look at the numbers. Alcohol sales jumped 55%, liquor 75%, wine 66%, and ready-to-drink cocktails 106%. Liquor store customers have quickly become accustomed to the convenience of having their alcohol delivered. Researchers reported that there will be little to no change any time soon.
